The AI for NGOs: Solutions Lab is a hands-on, practical programme designed to help NGOs move from understanding AI to building real solutions and integrating them into their work.

Delivered by Civil Society Academy International in collaboration with Markus Matthiaschek (Zero Hunger AI), this lab combines training, experimentation, and application — all focused on real-world NGO challenges.

Building on the strong success of our AI for NGOs Hackathon (February 2026)—which generated a range of practical and innovative solutions—this programme represents the next evolution, integrating key learnings and expanding the approach to go even deeper into application and organisational integration.

This lab is for NGO professionals and social innovators who want to turn real organisational challenges into practical AI solutions. No technical background needed — just curiosity and readiness to experiment.

🧭 What You Will Experience: Learn, Build & Apply

Day 1 – Learn: Build Your AI Foundation

• Practical introduction to AI tools, including large language models (LLMs) and AI agents

• Understand how AI can support NGO work — from operations to citizen behaviour change

• Explore key tools such as ChatGPT, Anthropic (Claude), NotebookLM, Lovable, Paperclip, and emerging AI agent builders

  
  

Day 2 – Build: Create Your Own AI Solution

• Bring your real organisational challenge (e.g. monitoring, advocacy, fundraising, behaviour change)

• Work in teams to design and prototype a solution

• Build a functional app or AI agent using no-/low-code tools

• Receive hands-on mentoring from AI practitioners throughout the process

Day 3 – Apply: Integrate AI into Your Organisation

• Learn how to embed AI into your team workflows and structures

• Develop a practical AI roadmap for your organisation

• Identify next steps to scale and sustain your solution
